Turning a house into a home !

Hello All !

After much vacillation on whether to start a blog of my own or not,(I already think I spend way too much time on social networking sites :-)) I finally decided to create a page to share my thoughts with everyone. So here I am !

I wasn't very sure what the subject for my first post here ought to be, so I decided to share a note on what is top of the mind for me these days. It's all about gathering twigs to make that perfect nest ! :-)

I recently moved to South Korea with my husband and the past couple of months have been all about setting up our home here.

Doing up a home, as all you seasoned 'nesters' would agree is lots of fun, but is also at times easier said than done. Getting the colour themes right, deciding the look-and-feel of different corners, what art needs to adorn which wall etc. etc. can all be lots of fun but sometimes frustrating too.

But the husband wanted that 'his wife should have the pleasure of choosing the furniture' ( and everything else that goes along with it ).Well, guess WHO'S NOT complaining ! :-).

So I landed up at (for the most part of it ) an empty apartment- two plates, two forks, two spoons and the biggest television screen I'd ever seen in my life and was oh-so-grateful for the blank canvas ! :-)

And then it was time to unleash the paints, so here I am, living my dream of building a home of the house we live in. The journey here has just begun and am absolutely loving it. The feeling of 'Our first this, and first that..' is unparalleled joy :-)

I love all things pretty, just like all of you, and I hope to post some snippets here that shall appeal to your sense of decor too, what I fondly refer to as 'A Treat for the Senses' :-)

Posting one such picture here from my home that I love. Catching a glimpse of this makes me smile every morning. Hope you like it too :-)

Welcome to my blog once again, and do keep visiting and writing in ! :-)

  8. Had always loved ur style of expression...beautifully written. If one corner of ur house looks like this I am wondering what ur entire house looks like...I could never think of putting a kettle n making it look so rustic yet posh.

  9. Lovely corner and an even beautiful and honest write up ! Like you, even I landed up with very basic things to start our nest, although, thanks to my hubby's foresight, he did stock up on basic furnishings and modest kitchen supplies (which were "everything we might need" by his standards ! ).... In my initial months, I used to wash the dishes and so missed our desi "Kanta Bai". So, the day we bought our dishwasher (God praise the person who developed it.. ) my first reaction to hubby dear was - now you can spoil as many dishes and glasses as you wish - I don't care !!... Once, I even visited an Indian restaurant just to ask them from where did they purchase Indian spices.. !!.... From searching an Indian style broom to spices to western counterparts for Indian utensils.. it's been a great journey. Loved every bit of it...

  11. I landed here from East Coast Desi and was instantly hooked. I finished all your posts in the past hour and at the end, was pleasantly surprised to see that you had just started blogging! Your empty canvas looks oh so beautiful! I am tempted to ask where you got all your knick knacks, vignettes etc. You see, I am a newly-wedded wife who has to do up a totally empty rented apartment from scratch! Loved your blog and will keep on visiting for more :)

    1. Dear Debosmita, welcome to my page ! My apologies for such a late response, not quite sure how this escaped my eye. Thank you for the lovely comment here, so glad you like what you see here. Been collecting stuff from all over, carried some teeny-weeny knick knacks from India too. A lot of my collection is from weird flea markets, places where you'd get the most unexpected yet delightful stuff. Yes do keep visiting, so glad to connect with you. Good luck with your decor project :-)
